The home and garden of internationally acclaimed author Eudora Welty

Readers of Welty’s fiction know that Eudora Welty was an avid and knowledgeable gardener. The names of flowers and plants, wild and domestic, abound in her fiction. The garden created by her mother, Chestina, and tended by Eudora for years, is being carefully restored to the 1925-1945 era.

The garden is open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for public tours March through October. Garden admission is free, but reservations are required. For information or to make a reservation for a garden tour, email weltytours@mdah.state.ms.usor call (601) 353-7762.
