In particular, the Eudora Welty Foundation and the Department of Archives and History envision the Welty home as providing an active literary experience that will enhance the understanding of Welty's life and work for visitors from across America and around the world. The first project of the Welty Foundation has been underway for the past two years--the restoration of the property's garden, created and carefully maintained by Miss Welty's mother during her lifetime. The One Writer's Garden project is being directed by an archival gardener, who will continue to oversee the restoration plan she devised. Work on the house that Eudora Welty called home for seventy-six years and in which she wrote almost all of her fiction has now also commenced and will culminate in a literary house museum that helps to illuminate the creative process of one of this nation's finest writers. The Eudora Welty Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt entity and welcomes contributions in support of the Eudora Welty House. Donations can be sent to the following
